Canada entered the war on terror after the attacks on 9/11. An event that shocked the western world and spurred both the United Nations and NATO into action. On 12 September 2001 the UN approved Resolution 1368 to erradicate Global Terrorism and on 4 October NATO invoked for the first time Article 5 for the first time, an attack on one NATO nation is an attack on all NATO Nations. And Canada stepped up to defend her neighbour and best friend.
